Greenwich House Senior Centers

Greenwich House Senior Centers, where friendships flourish amid all kinds of social, educational, cultural and health activities.

For almost a half a century, Greenwich House has provided services for its elderly neighbors in Greenwich Village and the surrounding neighborhoods. Partially funded by the New York City Department for the Aging, Greenwich House's four senior centers are a vital resource for many in the community. They provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere where friendships grow among a spectrum of social, educational and cultural activities. The centers serve breakfast and lunch daily to over 400 of the Center’s members who come seeking a hot meal. The diverse offerings range from poetry and cinematography clubs, exercise classes including yoga and tai chi, language instruction, health lectures, painting and art classes, movies and card playing. Birthdays are celebrated with dancing, music and refreshments. Day-long trips to plays, museums and other interesting locales are scheduled on a monthly basis. The staff also helps seniors to obtain the special services, benefits, entitlements and referrals that maintain one's well-being and independence.
