Each day at BSNS will bring something new for your child to learn and grow. Below is a sample description of a "regular" day at BSNS.
Arrival
Children put belongings in cubbies, put their picture card in the pocket chart and write or trace their names on the sign-in sheet.
Open Time
During this time activities and materials are easily accessible, open-ended and regularly changed to appeal to a variety of interests and developmental levels. Children have the option of choosing an activity from the sensory, art or math manipulatives tables. Another option they can choose is taking a puzzle or book to the rug.
Welcome Meeting
This large group activity formally begins the day through the use of introductory songs, calendar and weather and news sharing.
Roof/Gym/Track
Children play on the roof, gym or track with a wide variety of age appropriate equipment, games and materials. In addition to outdoor equipment, the children also play with balls, hoops, mats, balance beams, games, tricycles, basketball, tee ball, etc.
Work Time
This time explores, investigates and consolidates knowledge around projects attuned to personal interests.
Music and Movement
Activities during music and movement time include dance, parachute, simple games, instruments, outside time and neighborhood exploration.
Snack
A variety of snacks are distributed such as fresh fruit, crackers, cheese and veggies. Occasionally, snacks are prepared by the children as a math or science activity.
Work Center Time
Children engage in free play with their peers which allows them to make choices based on their own interests. Our centers include:

Story Time
A wide variety of books, poems and flannel board series are selected for group story telling according to the projects and interests of the children.
Goodbye Meeting
Before the day ends, we take time to talk about what the children learned, what next steps to anticipate and things they can explore in their community to expand knowledge.
