Application

We have stopped accepting applications for the 2012 - 2013 school year. An application is needed for all first time, re-applying and sibling applicants. Once we have received your completed application, you will be contacted about a parent tour.

Sibling Applications

We truly value our current and past families and enjoy welcoming siblings to our community. Please keep in mind that siblings are expected to apply at the 2s level. If you need to discuss this matter, contact the Admissions office. When these applications are returned to BSNS, families will be contacted about attending a sibling play date in December.

Sibling acceptance is not automatic, however, it is school policy to try to accommodate all sibling applicants when possible. We look forward to getting to know another member of your family and working with you throughout this application process.

Interview & Tour Sessions

Once we have received your completed application form and fee, you will be contacted to schedule your group interview and tour of the school.  These small group sessions take place with our senior director and admissions director. These sessions are for parents only and are approximately one hour long.

Parents interested in applying for the 2012-2013 school year are required to attend one of these sessions as part of the Admissions process. Parents of applicants who are re-applying and have toured previously are welcome, but are not required to attend again.

Play Sessions/Child Visits

Play observation sessions will be held throughout JanuaryIn December, parents who have applied to BSNS will be contacted regarding their child's play session appointment. During the session, children are grouped by age and observed in small groups for approximately 30 minutes. Only one adult is permitted to accompany each child into the classroom.

Early Notification

All siblings receive early notification unless a family contacts our office to note otherwise. Applications for siblings must be filled out between September 5th and November 14th. Notification letters are sent by Friday, January 27. Please note that Early Notification is never a guarantee of admission.

Notification

Letters of notification will be sent on Tuesday February 28, 2012 in accordance with dates set by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York, (ISAAGNY).

Out-of-Town Applications

Our goal is to accommodate the schedules of out of town applicants to Barrow Street. Therefore, please inform us as soon as possible of any dates you plan to be in the New York City area so we can schedule a visit and tour for you and your child. Whenever possible, we would like to have children participate in our regularly scheduled group visits.
