Part of our mission is to support ceramic artists. Each year, Greenwich House Pottery hosts several exhibits and installations in its 2 galleries. Interested curators and artists are invited to apply for exhibitions and to participate in the special public sales scheduled throughout the year. Proposals for the Jane Hartsook Gallery and Storefront are reviewed throughout the year. Include artist resume, artist statement, exhibition description, CD Rom or 35mm slides labeled with accompanying slide list of up to 20 images, additional support materials if any, and a SASE for the return of materials.
All proceeds from sales support studio potters and our non-profit educational programs.
THE JANE HARTSOOK GALLERY
The Jane Hartsook Gallery is dedicated to sharing the diversity of historical and contemporary ceramics with the community. Founded in 1970 by the Pottery’s former director, Jane Hartsook,it was conceived as the only non-profit venue in New York City dedicated to exhibiting and challenging preconceptions of the ceramic medium. This gallery also provides a venue for current ceramic artists–including emerging and established artists, students, and faculty. Over the years, some of the biggest names in ceramics have been featured. For current exhibitions, see our Events/Exhibitions Calendar.
THE STOREFRONT The only store of its kind in New York City where one can experience the diversity of American studio pottery.
Unique and limited editions made by potters from across the country and in out studios stylistically challenge and embrace this tradional craft. An array of influences from Modernist sensibilities, to drawing, to Islamic patterning, to rustic wood-fired pieces await discovery.
Open Tuesday-Saturday, 12-6pm or by appointment.
All proceeds from sales help to support these artists and our programs.
