Summer Camp

Participating in The Summer Visual Arts Camp is a great way to continue expanding and learning in a fun, safe environment from July through August. Children and young teens will work in art studios and with instruction from talented and creative staff. All levels of art experience are welcome, the only requirement is a sincere interest in the Visual Arts!

During camp, students work on collaborative projects in disciplines such as:

  • Architectural and perspective drawing
  • Sewing and needlecraft
  • Jewelry making
  • Silk-screening and printmaking
  • Woodworking
  • Pottery and ceramics
  • Illustration and animation
  • Photography
  • Multimedia movie-making

Students will learn to feel comfortable expressing themselves artistically and within a group setting.

Throughout the week (weather permitting), the children also take field trips to museums, galleries, parks, neighborhood attractions, pools and other public places. In the past, students have visited the Museum of the American Indian, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Drawing Center, The New York Skyscraper Museum and Central Park, which include walking and subway trips. Students are supervised at all times by qualified instructors. Parent chaperones are welcome to accompany field trips.

Registration and Fees

Sessions consist of a four week July session and a three week August session. You may sign up for individual weeks, or one or both sessions.
